Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias has teamed up with Jack in the Box to help strike out childhood hunger.
The ace took to a cash register at a Jack in the Box restaurant in Inglewood on Tuesday, Aug. 29, to serve food and raise awareness for the No Kid Hungry program.
The program is a national campaign to end childhood hunger in the country. It was launched in 2010 by the nonprofit Share Our Strength, whose goal is to solve hunger and poverty problems nationally and globally.
Since 2015, the Jack in the Box Foundation has partnered with No Kid Hungry to ensure children have access to a food supply. It has raised $3.7 million and aims to raise $1 million this September to help support children, according to a press release from the company.
That is why it enlisted Urias to help kick off the monthlong fundraiser.
“Food is at the core of everything we do at Jack in the Box,” Ryan Ostrom, the company’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement, “which is why our national philanthropic focus is childhood hunger relief.”
For the month of September, patrons who donate $1 at checkout to No Kid Hungry will receive a coupon for a free small curly fry to use on their next visit. Every dollar raised will go directly to No Kid Hungry.
