BATTLE CREEK — Kellogg Community College is once again partnering with the South Michigan Food Bank to provide fresh, healthy food to students and community members at no cost.
Monthly fresh food distribution events featuring free produce, baked goods and protein items will resume Sept. 19 and continue on the third Tuesday each month of the fall semester on KCC's main campus, 450 North Ave. Students and others from the community can simply drive or walk up during the event and pick up a box of food, free of charge while supplies last.
KCC distributes approximately 400 to 500 boxes of fresh food to those in need through the initiative over the course of four or five events each semester. Additional distribution dates include Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
The fresh food distribution events are held in Parking Lot G – next to the Miller Physical Education Building – on KCC's North Avenue campus. The distributions formally begin at 1 p.m. but interested individuals are encouraged to arrive earlier, as supplies go quickly and there’s often a line well before 1 p.m.
